Hi Rebbeccah,

According to the info you have, the only trace of your ancestor in France might be found through American WW1 military archives. If you can find out where more precisely his division was located in the Ardennes forest, we could maybe find some maps or other related documents in the French War archives ... but honnestly I doubt. Maybe if they were near a French Regiment we might be able to get some interesting info via the french regiment's log.

Other than that, i am not sure ...
