Good morning, I'm trying to locate Joseph VAUN born in France between 1842-1845 (d.1909 Essex ENG). I do not have any information that would suggest any particular location or region within France. His father is also Joseph VAUN. I'm trying to find out anything about him prior to 1880 including his birth/baptism in France and the name of mother. Whilst Joseph VAUN and his surviving children have used the spelling VAUN I do not know whether this surname has been anglicized and if so, to what extent. The earliest information I have on Joseph is his marriage by Banns to an English widow, Catherine Ann Gilham formerly Tumber, in 1880 at St Mary's Church, Teynham, Kent, ENG. He was a bachelor and a brickfields labourer. His marriage and burial were both Church of England. Probably the baptism of his children too. The English 1881 Census is the earliest Census I have found for him. 1881 RG11/971 f116 pg33 Station Field Cottages, Teynham, Kent Joseph Vaun b. France (British/Foreign subject not stated) 1891 RG12/1372 f79 pg13 21 Hardwicke St, Romford, Essex Joseph Vaun b. France British Subject 1901 RG13/1648 f19 pg30 Willow Walk, Ilford, Essex Joseph Vaun b. France Foreign Subject Names of his known children are - Amy Ellen, Eliza Amelia, Josephus, Albert Henry & George Frederick. Of these, Ellen and maybe George, are forenames that appear in the family of his wife but not the remainder. regards Maxine Johnson Australia Notify Administrator about this message?
