Having narrowed a few things down, I figured I'd ask if anyone knows anything about these people on this board; I've gotten great help on the others but hadn't posted anything on this board. I have the following information gleaned on my gggggrandparents: Pierre (Peter) Mallard (1815 (I think 10/11)-10/3/1880), b. Beaucourt, Hautrhin, France, d. Mt. Eaton, Ohio. He married Susan Curie (5/21/1822-1/1/1911), whose aprents were Jake Curie and Louise Frederick, a couple other trees confirm this. My main question on him is, does anyone know his parents' names? I have conflicting accoutns. One other tree says Susanne (maiden name Morel) was his mother and has no father listed, but other research says his parents might have been Jean-Jacques and Margaret. Problem is, Jean-Jacques died in Ohio in 1847, and naturalization records say Peter came in 1848. However, to further confuse things, Peter and Susan's children are listed in censuses as having been born in Ohio, in 1842 and 1844, respecitvely. I'm thinking they could have been born in France, but were so young they always listed themselves on censuses as being born in Ohio, but does anyone know? Was this common? I would trust naturalization records first, I think. ----------- One reason I'm not too sure about censuses is the other fellow, Alcide Blanchard. A few records say he was born in Salcourt, Switzerland, but everything recently I've found point to Seloncourt, France, as his birthplace. (I've also learned people on the border moved back and forth a fair amount in those days.) I was just curious if anyone on the France message board had any information on him - he died May 7, 1902, and factoring the age backward that's given gives me a birthdate around Apr. 12, 1836. Any information on his parents? Or, does anyone have other information on these individuals, such as how they came over, or information further back? I've read that a number of Mallards were Protestants/Huguenots, which would fit with the family Protestant history. Thanks. Notify Administrator about this message?
