MILLBROOK - E. Jean Pin, Ph.D., 84, of Millbrook died Sunday, September 17, 2006, while traveling with his wife in Italy. Born in Lyon, France on December 2, 1921, he was the son of Maurice and Marcelle Noirot Pin. Dr. Pin was educated in France and the USA. He holds a Doctor of Letters Degree, a Doctorate in Sociology, and higher degrees in Theology, Law and Economics, Political Science, Philosophy, and a Masters in Social Work. Dr. Pin was a professor at the Gregorian University in Rome, Italy and founder/director of CIRIS, and also a Professor Emeritus and former chair in the Department of Sociology at Vassar College. Most recently he was a staff psychotherapist at Catholic Charities. He was a highly respected and world renowned scholar in the field of Sociology of Religion and his seminal research has appeared in his books and articles that have been published in many languages throughout the world. On January 2, 1988 in Hyde Park he married Jamie Turndorf. His wife resides at home in Millbrook. In addition to his wife Jamie, he is survived by his three sisters, Madeleine Andre, Marthe Boge, and Germaine Feller, all of France. Visitation will be Saturday 10 am to 12 noon at Allen Funeral Home, 3270 Franklin Ave., Millbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 noon from St. Joseph's Church, North Ave., Millbrook. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Millbrook.
