Hi Bonnie,
I went and took a look at that page of the Ellis Island passenger manifest, and sure enough, "Vernette Farcuer" is what it looks like.It refers to him as Anna's grandfather, back home in Ratot, Hungary.
Here are some suggestions. It mentions that she is traveling to join her father, Gyorgy Koscic, in Philipsburg, New York.If Anna is your great-aunt, that means that Gyorgy is your great-grandfather.Have you tried to look for the marriage record of Georgy and his wife?"Vernette Farcuer" must be his father-in-law, and would be mentioned as the father of the bride at Gyorgy's wedding.
A common Hungarian surname is Farkas.I wonder if that is possibly the name you are looking for.Why don't you put a message on the "Farkas" board here in GenForum, and maybe someone there can help you.
Good luck,
Bob
