Hi again,
Regarding the Le Lievre which precedes "de St Remy"
I also thought that this was one of the "dit" names common in Quebec but to my knowledge this family did not spend a lot of time in Quebec.I have yet to follow up on Henry de St. Remy and his wife Margaret and their time in Quebec so could be proved wrong.
However I also found a record in "Pallot's Marriage Index for England 1780 - 1837" of a marriage between
Pierre Chas. Le Lievvre de St. Remy and
Elizabeth HealdeinBloomsbury ParishI'm not sure of date but it was before 1837.I'm not sure if these folks are related to our family but the I expect le Lievre was part of the name before they were in Quebec.
Thanks very much for the ref to the history of Rosetown.I will look at it over the next few days.
