I am doing genealogy work on the Herner family and I am trying to find information on FRANCIS J. HERNER. I have seen information that says he was born in Prussia in 1802. I believe this is what is now Germany or Alsace Lorraine, France. One of his sons, Joseph G. Herner, was born in Whetstone, Crawford, Ohio. Joseph then had a son Conrad Herner, who married Ida Rosetta Kloepfel. When Ida's husband, Conrad Herner died in 1942, she was the informant on the death certificate and said that Conrad's father, Joseph Herner was born in Alsace Lorraine, France. This information has been found to be incorrect because Joseph had siblings born before and after him who were born in the United States. I believe she was referring to Francis J. Herner's place of birth.
Is there anyone in this area that can help me in determining if there is a record of Francis J. Herner's birth in this area?
