Kaye you are right that he put some money in the bank after he had married Mrytle. She couln't get ahold of the money any other way. Yes there was the area you talked about and when grandpa died she took the jewery and everything else. Dad had built a room on the house for grandpa and was going to bring him to the house to live but he died the day before he was to come and live with us. The sheriff called dad and told him that Mrytle and her kids were at the old farm house and they were packing everything out. We went to the farm and they let dad into the house to talk to Mrytle. Dad tried to talk her into leaving everything there or to at least let the kids have something that had belonged to their dad and mom. She wouldn't agree to that. She did let dad take grandma's walking cane and a picture that had hung on the wall for years that their mother had had. I will never forget the police that were there and how they begged her to leave grandpa's things in the house but they wouldn't. Some of the other kids tried to get into the house to speak to Mrytle, after all their father had just died a couple of hours earlier but she had the police hold them outside the yard close to the road and she wouldn't talk to anyone else. Dad brought the cane and picture home. Aunt Norma cried and cried about everything that had taken place so dad gave her the picture that had been her mothers and as far as I know she still has it hanging on the wall in her house. It is a pretty good size picture and dad kept the cane. After my dad died the cane was giving to my youngest brother. He has grandma's cane.As far as I know those were the only two items that anyone in the family ever had that belonged to their parents.I am not likely to forget that day. I had never seen my dad cry but he did then and my heart was broken. As for the old farm house I had been told that they were going to tear the house down and I thought that they had. I haven't been by the old homeplace in a long time. Grover wasn't sure how old he was. Some people marked his birthday by a certain event that had taken place. I guess he really didn't remember when he was born.Did you know that Mom and Dad and I lived with grandpa at the old farm house for a while. I remember how he used to tease us about going up the stairs that the boogie man would get us and also the big weeping willow trees in the side back yard. When we were little we would swing on the limbs that were hanging down. I never knew why they came to Ohio or that area. I believe that all of the family stayed in Ky. William Alfred, his father, died in Carter Co.,Ky.I have been trying to find out about his grandfather,Robert Fraley. I don't know alot about him. I know who he married and things like that but I don't know if he was a farmer or what other trade he had. On one of the census I have looked at he is listed as a farmer. Got any suggestions? Am looking forward to seeing you. Can't wait to her you infor.
