Michael Frain was born about 1777 in NY and came to Michigan before 1835 as he has a recorded land patent in that year. He died Jan 30, 1854 and is buried in the Pray Cemetery, in Washtenaw Co. Michigan. His wife's name was Mary ??? B:abt1785 and Marr abt 1805 in NY. He had at least 2 daughters, Susannah B: 3-18-1807 at Fayette, Seneca Co. NY (my GGGrandmother)and Margaret R. Frain B: 6-22-16 location unknown. In 1832-1835 there were several land patents issued to a William Frain (1835) and to a Henry L. Frain (1832) that acquired land within a few miles of Michael Frain in the SW corner of Wayne County which is next to Washtenaw Co. Also located in Washtenaw Co is a lake called Frain Lake, a road named Frains Lake Road and a small settlement called Frain Lake. I believe these were named after the above family. Does anyone have any information on the Frains? Who was Michaels parents? What was Michael's wife, Mary, maiden name? Were William and Henry L. Frain related to Michael? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any leads.
