Thank you for providing so much detail. I do believe that we are looking at the same Fergus and its wonderful to hear how Fergus's family line since his emmigration from the UK has continued.
From what I have discovered from UK Census records and family stories etc I believe that Fergus (29/12/1873) was married twice. With Minnie being his second wife and my line coming from Fergus and his first wife. (I'm 99.9% sure due to census, birth M D reports etc and his general dissappearance but there's always room for a but!)
I'm sorry if this is a surprise! Its difficult to know how to phrase these new surprises as I know they may be a shock for some!
You mentioned a child that died young and I think I can perhaps help with some info on this if we are talking about the same child, unless poor Fergus lost one with each wife. I say 'if' as some other details about Fergus have been mixed up on some sites between his first and second wives details.
Fergus had three children with his first wife and then they had a fourth, a baby girl 'Amy' just before he left their lives, this baby died at less than 1yr old and can be seen on records that have attached to Fergus's details, but we believe it to be his child with his first wife called Amy, not Minnie, as 'baby Amy' is on the 1901 Census living with Fergus's first wife and chidren after Fergus has left.
With having tried to research Fergus for many years using different websites I have also come across 'mixed-up' information concerning him. Often the date of Fergus's marriage to his first wife is mis-attached as the date for his marriage to Minnie! I think someone found a marriage for him and presumed it was to Minnie, obviously not checking on the name of the wife! Not realising he married twice!
I have some information about the two generations behind Fergus and his siblings and if you'd like to know more I'd be happy to share it.
I hope this all makes sense to you and that my explanations are comprehensible! I'm almost certain that 'your Fergus' is 'my Fergus' but if you have doubts just voice them and I'd be delighted to work thru them.
I've spent so long on Fergus Fozard X-referencing things that if this isn't mine and its been a wild goose chase I'd be delighted to eliminate him -with evidence to prove any error.
Hoping to hear more,
