Hi Ruth and Dana!
Welcome to the Foyil search haha We're growing in number...we're up to 5 of us ladies looking for Foyil ancestors (probably the fewest number for any name in U.S. haha)
Ruth you asked about Cherokee heritage. My understanding is that some of the Foyil brothers married Cherokee women (e.g. Alfred Foyil of Foyil OK married Charlotte Choate, 100% Cherokee) Have you looked at the Dawes Rolls to see if any Coker names on there? I have looked and only found 3 Foyils (all related to Alfred) If my memory serves me (and it's not that dependable these days!), there are Cokers on the Dawes Rolls (but don't know if in the Cherokee, Intermarried Cherokee, Choctaw, etc. groups. You can go on NARA site and search. Let me know if you are unfamilar with Dawes, NARA, etc. I am a newbee at this ancestry stuff, but lucky enough to have a sister who has been doing it for years so get lots of tips from her.
-And Erlene too. Looking forward to sharing info. Benita
