Can you please advise us as to just what Wharton Dickinson's work is? I have not yet seen this source.
As to Christine Celia Fowler, she did indeed write the Fowler Family but that was 1950 and the majority of her "research" was initially done by (Mrs)Theresa Hall Bristol who began publishing her material in the New York G & B RECORD starting in 1927 [58:257] and continuing right up through 1941. Her efforts ended with her death.
C.C. Fowler did indeed add unto Mrs. Bristol's work but she also managed to stir some poppycock into the brew as well. In her initial installment [58:257] Mrs. Bristol states (among other things): ". . . erroneous statements . . . responsible for the first errors in the FOWLER GENEALOGY by Mr. Dickinson . . .". Is this the same thing you referred to as "work done by Wharton Dickinson" as mentioned above?
On to Rebecca Newell - she is given as such by THB 58:258 with some discussion. The will of Abraham Newell is mentioned but unfortunately not abstracted. Only his sons, not his daughters were said to be mentioned. That is a great big pain and reduces us to circumstantial evidence. The names of "Newell Fowler" and her sister Grace clearly indicates a relationship however I also note that there are no Abraham Fowlers, nor yet any Frances Fowlers in the 1st couple of generations and this sort of waters down things in that regard don't you think? There is plenty of Henry Fowler & Joshua Foote material mixed up together but where oh where are the Newells in all of this?
