See my entry of this date on Gerard Fowkes. Might he and Thomas have been brothers? Gerard is apparently a family name, and Thomas was a first name used in the Gerard family (e.g., Sir Thomas Gerard, royal botanist under Queen Elizabeth I).
The Fowkes family was from the village of Brewood.
