Carol,
I was wondering where in Indiana the family settled.I know there is a Fouty Cemetery in Shelby County, Indiana that I have hopes of visiting this summer. The names you mentioned looked familiar. While looking through some Allegany County, Maryland Marriages I found a George Foutz who married C. Sapp on March 6, 1798 and a Stephen Foutz who married Drusilla Biggerstaff on May 22, 1815.I also found Jesse Carpenter who married Polly Foutz on July 1, 1817.I was wondering if these were perhaps really Fouty's, and if so how they were related.I also found Ephraim Fouty with wife Evaline and eight children in the 1850 Addison Township, Shelby County, Indiana Census. In the 1800 Allegahy, Maryland Census I found Jacob Fouty with his family, George Fouty with his family and Stephen Fouty with his family. In the 1800 Washington County, Maryland Census I found Frederick Fouty and his family.I haven't been able to find out who John Justice Fouty's father was, but I'm keeping the earlier Fouty notes that I find along the way in hopes they will all tie into my branch.Hopefully we'll be able to connect.
Misty
