John Fouche of Hagerstown, Maryland late 1700s

I am looking for some help getting info on my ancestor John fouche, He landed in Hagerstown Maryland, apprenticed himself to a German Miller by the name of Spake(?) At the end of his indenture he married the millers daughter and may have then changed his name to Fouch to please his new Father-in-Law. John Fouch fought in the revolutionary war and later migrated to Ohio.

There is a gap in information, the next ancestor I have is Susan Recknor-Fouch of Maryland, she migrated to Ohio and Married David W. Fouch.

Does anyone here have any more info they can help with, especially the pre-america.

All I know about the travel to America by John Fouche is that he was a French Huguenot refugee whose property was confiscated. He made his way to the coast of France in disguise and sold himself to a sea captian coming to America.

Thanks,
Robin Fouche'
