Hello -

I'm looking for any information on Ephraim Foster and his family (parents, siblings, etc.), since I seem to have run up against a thick brick wall.

Ephraim was born 1 Sep 1829 in New York. According to old family records, he married Elizabeth Church on 12 October 1854 (I believe in Livingston, NY); they had three children: Edgar, Ida, and Decker. Somewhere in the mid 1850s Ephraim & Elizabeth moved to Michigan, first Flint, then settling in Tuscola County, where Ephraim died on 25 April 1909. He was buried in Riverside cemetery.

On the 1850 census he was living in Springwater, Livingston with the Cummins family:
Moses A. Cummins 32 M Miller
Andalucia(?) D. Cummins 28 F -- b. NY
??? Cummins 8 M -- b. NY
Viola Cummins 4 F -- b. NY
??? Lewis 15 F -- b. NY
Ephaim Foster 21 M Laborer b. NY

In 1860, Ephraim and Elizabeth are living in Flint Michigan:
Ephraim Foster 30 M Farmer, b. NY
Elizabeth Foster 28 F -- b. NY
Egar Foster 4 M -- b. Mich
Elizabeth Church 17 F Schoolteacher, b. NY

The 1880 census says Ephraim's father was born in PA, and his mother in NY; The 1900 census says both parents were born in NY. His death certificate states that his mother's maiden name was Oakley, and that he was born in Livingston County, NY; but has no other information.

I haven't been able to find an obituary or estate record for him, or any records at all in New York, other than the 1850 census. Any information would be dearly welcome!
