Foster, Madison J., born in Blount County, enlisted at age 19 at Murphree's Crossroads 6 Feb 1862; on company muster-in roll at Shelby Springs 6 Feb 1862; on muster roll from 4 Feb to 30 Apr 1862; on regimental return; died of disease at Gainesville, Alabama 26 Jun 1862; widow Louisa D. Foster filed claim for settlement in the Office of the Confederate States Auditor for the War Department 17 Sep 1862 and 4 Jun 1863; fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, 5' 10", 20 years of age. Madison J. Foster married Louisa Wilemon 23 Jun 1861, Blount County.
