SHOTGUN USED IN KILLING LAST MONDAY MORNING: MOTIVE UNKNOWN
LOVIC T. (BUD) FETNER, age 56, resident of Beat 4, was killed near
his home last Monday morning about 7:30 by MILFORD M. (BILL)
FOSTER, age about 45, his neighbor for a number of years. FETNER
died after he was shot three times with a double-barrell shotgun.
The shooting occurred in the road near the home of W. L. HARMON,
FETNER'S father-in-law, who lived a short distance down the road
from FETNER. According to local officers who arrested FOSTER
shortly after the tragedy, the trouble that existed between the two
men was not known. FOSTER lived only a short distance from FETNER
and was arrested at his home just after the shooting.
According to information given The Sun, FETNER, a widower, had been
down to the HARMON home to get breakfast, and was fixing a flat
tire on his car in the road near the HARMON home when FOSTER
approached him and began shooting. Three charges from the gun
entered FETNER'S body.
FOSTER was brought to the Chambers County jail and lodged on a
charge of murder, pending a preliminary trial.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock from the
Pleasant Grove Christian Church with the Rev. Roy Walker
conducting. Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery with CUTLER in charge.
