Hi,
I saw your posting on the gen-forum and thought I'd share this information with you. James Foster born 1805, son of Moses Foster married my gr gr aunt Malinda Moldred Womack who was born in 1810 in St. Helena Parish, Louisiana. James and Malinda married as far as I know (not researching the Foster line but based on info that I've seen)...married in Copiah Co. Miss. They later moved to Lamar County,Texas. At any rate, they had several children, among them a William M. Foster born in 1834. I have a photo of this William if you know any one of that line who would be interested or would like to have the photo.
Here's how and why I have the photo.
Malinda was sister to my gr gr grandfather William Womack who married Ellen Goynes in 1836 in Copiah Co. Miss and they moved permanently to Jackson Parish, La. They had several children, among them two daughters Martha and Nancy Caroline Womack. Martha married George McDuffie Tippen in 1860 in Jackson Parish, Louisiana and they moved to Lamar Co. Texas. I think that they did some work establishing or working with the Church of Christ there, are found in some old church records there and in the 1870 census there in Lamar. Martha died in 1875 enroute to Louisiana and George, having young children married her sister Nancy (my gr grandmother)one month later in Jackson Parish. George and Nancy returned to Lamar Co. Texas and lived there for a time and are back in La by 1880. George was really good friends with William and they worked together with the church work. George's son Walter Clement Tippen was my grandfather and he too was good friends with William "Bill" as he was called by them. They corresponded a great deal. My grandmother Bessie, wife of Clement gave me all of her photos before she died. We talked about and looked at these photos many times when I was a child, guess that's why she gave them to me. But the photo is the old kind, on a cardboard backing. I would like to see it with hopefully some of William's descendants, but will be happy to send it to some of that line of Fosters since he is not directly related to me but is a very distant cousin. I know that I treasure my photos of my grandparents and their parents, so hopefully someone will want this photo.
I've searched this sight and since you are a descendant of Moses and had much info on the sibblings, etc I thought I'd try and contact you to see if you may know of any relatives of William, son of James son of Moses.
For more information on this particular family and info on Moses and his son James you can see a text called "Descendants Of Moses Foster"all you need do is enter these words into the search engine on the internet and it comes up. It gives history of James and his wife and some of their descendants. I don't know the person or persons who compiled this website and can't contact them through the email address listed there for them.
Also, I am currently researching Ellen Goynes Womack...she was my Indian ancestor but I don't have any information on her parents. I find the Indian heritage within Moses family very very interesting since it pertains to Copiah County where my Ellen was born in 1820. I have a lock of her hair. Most think that she was of Choctaw descent but I don't have a clue, other than according to census records her parents were both born in Georgia. They lived in the same place in Copiah Co as the Foster family, same location, etc. William Womack's parents were Richard and Martha (unknown) Womack. If you have any suggestions as to researching the Indian heritage it would be a great help or if you know of a possible link to the Goynes/Guynes family with any of the other Fosters then I may have some answers to my Indian heritage.
Thanks,
Penny
