I am looking for information on Caroline Foss born in 1834 in Maine, daughter of Joseph and Lucy (COOLEGE) Foss; and information on Florence (Flora) Bonney, daughter of Asa and Caroline (FOSS) Bonney born in 1856 in Maine.
Joseph M. FOSS, Jr. m. (int.)16 Feb 1819 at Dixfield, ME, Lucy COOLEGE, dau. of Moses and Sarah (Merrill) Coolige( possibly actually married 8 Apr 1819 in Jay, ME.). The information was discovered on microfilm Reels 165, 166 of the Dixfield, Me births, Deaths, Marriages 1829-1887, ME State Archives. Joseph M. FOSS, Jr. was b. 4 May, 1799. Lucy COOLEGE was b. 17 Aug, 1792 in Jay, ME.
I have found a Joseph M. Foss, 51 yrs old and a Lucy 59 in the Town of Newburyport, Mass. in 1850 Federal Census with children at that time at home, Mary A. 19 yrs, Caroline 16, Hannah J. 15, Lucitta 13, and two men Moses M. 26 and Elias 21. I have also found Joseph Foss Jr. in the 1820, 1830, and 1840 Federal Census for Dixfield, ME.
I believe this is the Caroline Foss who married Asa Bonney who was born 10 Sept 1827 in Peru, Maine. Only have a reference to that in the 1870 census in NJ where it lists they had several children : George, born in Maine, 1854; Flora, Maine, 1856 (my great grandmother)died about 1881; Blanche, RI, 1858; Calvin, RI, 1860; Lewis, Mass., 1862 ; Alice, NJ, 1864 ( my grandmothers' stepmother after she married Flora's husband) and William, NJ, 1869. (So the wedding took place between 1850 and 1853.)
Caroline (Foss) Bonney's death certificate, she died 7 Oct 1903, Bayonne, NJ, lists parents as Joseph Foss and Lucy Foss.
I need to verify that Caroline was born in Dixfield, ME; find documentation of the marriage of Asa Bonney and Caroline Foss; and document the birth of Florence Bonney to Asa and Caroline Bonney.
