Hopkins County Farm was a place for people who had no money. A poor house. They also had a burial ground for people who couldn't pay for burial. No stones to mark their graves.

Go further down the page of cemeteries, and you will see Hopkins County Farm- and if you click on the site, you will find Hans Foss's record of burial there.

These burial places were very common, even for people who were working.

Can't help with the newspaper- The Minneapolis Star was the newspaper of the day there, but as I said I can't find any archives.
