Joseph Alton Foss added these notes to his entry for Louisa Scofield: "The Schofields had apparently settled in Whitneyville, Maine. The 1850 Census of East Machias, Maine, pp. 31-32, no. 170, shows the family of Frederick Scofield, 50, born in Nova Scotia. His wife, Phebe, age 51, also born in Nova Scotia. They have a daughter, Louisa, age 14 (b. ca. 1836) but place of birth not indicated (or perhaps meant to indciate East Machias). This may be the Losuia D.
