Dear Fosdick Family,
You have a very distinguished family. I have been researching one of your ancestors--J. Wm. Fosdick--for over ten years, especially since 2006
when Google Books and the NY Times started publishing old books and
archives, respectively. Since that time, my research on J. W. F. has been
intensive, and since he was not only a famous artist in fire etching (the
focus of my research), he was also a prolific writer, this has been a gold
mine for a researcher.
I have a very large section on him now in my E-Museum of Pyrographic
Art (starting at the SECOND IMAGE on the following web page:
I had posted previously to M. M. Steele's query back in 2008, but I
wanted to note that, since Oct. 2009, the E-Museum has now moved to pyromuse.org.
I am ever hopeful that some of his descendants will have works by him
and will be in touch with me so that I can display images of those works
in the E-Museum. Most of the images I have to date are from articles
by and about him dating back about a hundred years.
There were ten panels by him in the Men's Grill at St. Botolph's Club
in Boston, but I don't know where they went. I hope one of you may
have the answer to that query.
His Salon No. 3 exhibit in the E-Museum has much biographical
data on him and his wife,
and linked from there is still another exhibit
to his STUDIOS and EXHIBITIONS,
that I set up as a way to get a sense of his personal and professional
lifestyle. I now have some nice photos there of his various studios.
Do any of you know what became of his daughter Elizabeth Christian
Fosdick and her descendants?
Thank you for your time and consideration.
