Kay,
I have an obituary for Caroline (Bridgewater) Fortune who died in Halsey, Linn Co., Oregon on May 3, 1908.I can send a copy, or, if you have access to Genealogy Bank, I believe you can get a copy there. There's quite a bit of information and a picture.I don't remember the exact newspaper, but try a search. Her death certificate lists her parents as Isac Bridgewater and Margaret McCasslin.Caroline and Austin Fortune were married in Adams County, IL Nov. 3, 1835.Their marriage record is on file there. In the census, they can be found in Adams Co., IL in 1840; in Pike County, IL in 1850-1870.Caroline can be found in 1880 Parker Co., TX with daughter and son-in-law James and Martha Marksbury and 1900 Gold Hill, Jackson Co., OR.Caroline's gravestone is pictured in find-a-grave, Workman Cem., Halsey, OR.I also have an obituary for her son John Fortune that I could send (it may also be in Genealogy bank--Sept. 1911).My husband descends from John.I got the obituary from his aunt many years ago and accidentally ran across a copy in Genealogy Bank.I have some information on the other children, just because I've been researching for a long time and came by it all the hard way.
I would SO welcome any help finding Austin's father.
