She was born in Virginia and married Charles in Warren County, NC. I have been told that she was the daughter of a Joseph Fortune. I have been told that her father's family were French Huguenots and interacted early with Indian tribes of Virginia, possibly intermarrying with them. This would make sense because Charles Durham is located as witness to marriages listed as "free people of color" in the state of North Carolina. Notify Administrator about this message?
