Additional information:

Samuel BROOKIN and Martha FORTSON married in Louisa County, Virginia on 13 April 1818, Martha identified as "dau. of Stephen Fortson" sur. Stephen Fortson (Source: "Marriages of Louisa County, Virginia 1815-1861" compiled by Wm Kiblinger and Janice Abercrombie, 1989, pg. 12)

Also, from "Marriage Records of Roane County, Tennessee 1801-1855" by Willis Hutcherson and Marilyn McCluen, some additional FORTSON marriages, Roane Co., TN:

Stephen FORTSON and Peggy WEST 21 Feb. 1827 (pg. 89)
Bazzel D. FREEMAN and Elizabeth FORTSON 31 July 1827 (pg. 90)
George DAVIS and Mary Ann FORTSON 19 Nov. 1832 (pg. 120)

I believe all of these individuals are siblings, issue of Stephen FORTSON and Elizabeth (UNKNOWN). See previous posts.
