Timothy Fortner -NC/SC/GA 1785-1860
Looking for any information on Timothy Fortner, dob abt 1785 in North Carolina. Timothy and his family are listed in the 1810 Census of the Old Pendleton District of South Carolina. He is said to have married a Millac or Millak COLLINS, possibly the daughter of Nathaniel COLLINS. Timothy and his family migrated to the Lumpkin County, Georgia area during the 1820s Gold Rush there. Millac is said to have died there before 1850 and is buried in the Bethel Methodist Campground Cemetery, near Dawsonville, Georgia. After her death, Timothy and two of his sons returned to Pickens County, SC. He is said to have died sometime after 1850, the last time he is recorded in the Pickens County, SC cenus. He was shown living alone at that time.
