Dear Judy,
We are not sure if the information we are going to share with you will help. However, it is a start and we would be very pleased to further our search in order to help you find your husband's ancestors.
We found a David Fortna born on July 9, 1800, in Dauphin, PA and who died in Hancock Co., IL.William, the youngest of his seven children was born on January 8, 1848, in Hancock Co., IL.His wife Olivia (no last name mentioned) died around 1873 and was buried in Antioch Cemetery near Tremont, IL.They had two children: Robert Edward (b.1848 in Hancock Co., IL; d. 1923 in Prineville, OR)Hiram Andrew (b. December 13, 1854 in Hancock Co., IL.)
If you would like to know more about the origin of the Fortna/Fortney/Fortineux/etc..., let us know, we would be glad to share with you the information we have.
Whether it helps or not, send us a line.
