Hi, Pauline,
Just read your message.I'm the son of Verda's youngest half-sister Naomi, who was nearly 40 years younger then Verda. My grandfather, George Layton Fortner, was 62 when mother was born in 1907 to his second wife, Missouri Evelyn (nee: Frye).
I visited Aunt Verda at the ranch in Camp Verde, Arizona, on July 5, 1956.She died about a year later, according to her half-sister (and my full aunt) Ruth.I never heard anything about Grants Pass, or Oregon.Verda told me she went directly from Oklahoma to Arizona and she and her husband show up in the Census starting in 1920 in Camp Verde. She had two children, both of whom she told me lived in National City, California, in 1956.I have wonderful memories of our time together that day and would be glad to share them with her descendants. She was, as the saying goes, "a bird"--delightful, colorful, quick witted.
How do you tie in?
