Delaware Fortener/Fortner's
Posted by: Ernie Mabrey (ID *****1001) Date: May 24, 2007 at 14:21:49

I have this week discovered that one of my g-g-g-grandmother's was born a Fortener, according to the marriage bond. Her name was listed as Susan Fortener, and married James Carrow on October 17, 1839 in New Castle County, DE. She was born about 1818, according to census records, and the last census I see her in is from 1880. I have looked for others In Delaware with her surname, but I generally only see Fortner's, so that may be how her surname really was spelled. Anyone with more knowledge of the Delaware Fortener's / Fortner's who can help, I would be grateful.
