Columbus "Lum" Fortner, b. 1882(NC)>TN
Mom and I seem to be working against a brick wall on this line of Fortners from around Bakersville, NC. Here's what we've found so far:
Lum Fortnerb. @1882 NC (so my gfather told us);
NEED PARENTS OR BROS/SISTERS!
Might have had a brother - Ralph Fortner (Ralph Fortner was mentioned as having attended Lum's funeral from NC.
Married Maggie Carden in Elizabethton, TN 2/19/1901;
Lum died 1940. Logging was his trade. Fathered 9 children with Maggie:
Mazori"Zuri"
Jenny
Dan
Grant
Link
Nora
Eb
Rhudy Ancle Fortner (my gfather).
My mother's 71 and we've been working on Lum Fortner's brick wall for 3 yrs. I'd like to find a connection somewhere while she's still alive.It would really thrill her.
I have photo of Lum, and have been told he was a good man and hard worker by relatives in their 90's who remember him.
