Dewel,
Just found you on GenForum.I am descended from Pleasant Fortner's daughter, Matilda. She married Henderson Barton on March 27, 1839 in Blount Co. AL.Children: Minerva, b. ca. 1841, Hezikah, b. ca. 1843, William B. (my ancestor) b. ca. 1844, Andrew, b. ca. 1846, and Matilda, b. ca. 1854. Matilda Fortner Barton died between 1854 and 1860.I think probably 1854 since the last child was named Matilda also.Henderson had moved to Poinsette Co. AR by 1860 so I don't know where Matilda died. Henderson Barton had moved the family to Clark Co. AR. by 1870.William stayed in Clark Co. and I am told the others went to OK. William Barton's wife's name is unknown but his dauther was Mary Jane Barton who married Henry Clay Stone in Clark Co. AR.Of their children, Sarah Elizabeth Stone was my paternal grandmother. She married James Guy Smith. My father was Earl Eugene Smith.Jan Woods
