Hi, Wendy.
This is slim pickings, but here goes: I found Ignace and Yvonne Bernier marrying Oct. 13/1920 in St. Eugene, L'Islet County, Quebec. My only link to "your" Ignace: he had a brother named Charles (I don't have the others you mentioned)
If this is a match, then Ignace's parents were Philias and Cesarie Poitras (M. Oct. 24/1892), and Yvonne's parents were Elzear and Amanda Gaudreau. I think Elzear was a great explorer; I'd have to research that before I can confirm it.
(Actually, there's a friend of mine by the name of Clyde Barney, descendant of the great Bernier family. He's as crazy as I am when it comes to family trees; he'll probably pick up on your entry and touch base with you in the next 10 days or so).
You may also want to post your information in the Fortins of America Association (www.afa.fortin.com)
Woud appreciate your feedback, regardless.
Cheers!
Pierre
