Robert Fortin-Marcel Cyr-So. Portland/Lewiston, ME WWII
I am performing a random act of Genealogical Kindness for Delcia Ouellette - her maiden name - she was born in Maine the daughter Dennis and Rose (Costonguay) Ouellette. She she is looking to find any information on a Robert Fortin who was a friend of her cousin Marcel Cyr.
Delcia is 87 b. 1918 and both Robert Fortin and Marcel Cyr would be about the same age, both born in ME and served together in WWII in ME and Panama.
Delica knows that Robert Fortin returned after the War as he visted her parents when he returned but at that time Delcia was married and no longer living in South Portland/Lewiston, ME area. This is the last she knows of Robert.
Delcia says that Marcel was in the Army in 1938 at Fort Williams ME, was sent to Panama Canal in 1938/1939 and Robert Fortin served there with him. Marcel Cyr was sent home earlier from Panama than Robert to a VA hosptial in VT in 1942 to be treated for TB - if he survived this Delcia believes both he and Robert would have lived out their life in Maine & may still be alive there. The VA hospital Marcel probably would have been the one at 215 Main Street in White River Junction, VT.
If anybody has any information on Robert Fortin and/or Marcel Cyr - Delcia would be most grateful.
She is not on the net and I am trying to help her "find her man".
Any help appreciated, I'm cluess when it comes to research in Main but I can help anyone in Dutchess County, NY
