BonJour , Robert ;
I do not know about the first , but my research here in Maine has Fortin family members as far back as late 1700's coming to various parts of Maine . Do you know any who were rousted out by the British , were there Fortin families in Acadia ??I have traced my ancestry back as far as Ste Claire de Dorchester , then probably Buckland de Bellechasse area, but haven't complete info yet . Family name - my branch was partially changed to Fortier ( documented) for some reason ( such as bad handwriting) in the Old Town , ME area in , or just prior to , 1870 census . Andre Fortin & Luce LeBrun dite Carrier were my GR,GR Grandparents .
