my great-great grandfather, pablo garcia fernandez, a spaniard from ciudad real, spain, came to the philippines in the early to middle 1800s. he settled in cebu and married an isabela fortich. interestingly, my wife's great-great grandmother was also a fortich (bernardina or bernarda), who lived in cebu around the same time.
