That's very interesting because I recently found out that we do have African-American relatives. My father met a lady at Rikard's Mill (Monroe Co., Ala.) who gave him some information about it. Apparently a cousin of ours (now passed away) named J D Forte never married but fathered interracial children. I don't know any of their names, or if they adopted the Forte surname, but the lady who spoke to my father was of that lineage. If any of that is helpful let me know and I can probably get more information from my father since his memory is better than mine. Was your grandfather African-American, and do you have any other names you could give me? There is a William Travis Forte (white) in my family tree. Hope that helps!
