Do you already have, or if not, would you be interested in, documentation for George's family?
I am attempting to establish the fact that George's wife, Rachel Edgar is a part of my family Caldwell family line. About 1804 a family of six siblings (the eldest ca 25 and the youngest 5-8 yrs old)left County Down, Ireland, landed at Baltimore and made their way overland and by river to the area which is now Greenfield, OH. In 1907, the eldest grandson of the eldest brother (a retired judge) wrote a family history which I have been attempting to document. Two of the three sisters married in OH but may not have lived near the other four siblings since the Judge knew only their husband's names. One of these married James Edgar whose family, according to the history, left OH to settle in IA, along with some of the Caldwell's and McClures (another family allied by marriage). I have found some of the Caldwell's in the Wapello Co area, along with some McClure's from OH.
Rachel Edgar was the youngest child of James Edgar and his wife (who may have died shortly after Rachel was born in OH). The census data gives her mother's nativity as OH but I am almost certain that she is my missing Caldwell, born in County Down. Even her brother (the youngest of the siblings and my own ancestor) often gave his nativity as OH on the census even though all official documents state that he was born in Ireland).
I would appreciate being able to compare notes, documentation, etc. if you are interested.
