Our family history states:

JAMES F. FORSYTHE, born in Ireland, birth date unknown. His wife's name was Elizabeth. (Her maiden name and birth date were not listed.) The only one listed as children (on immigration papers ?) was Robert Forsythe. James Forsythe, his wife and son Robert came to America from Ireland in 1755. They landed in Norfolk, Virginia. The family later moved to Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, in 1767. In 1782, James Forsythe and Elizabeth had moved to Prince Edward County, Virginia. James's will was written Dec. 30, 1785 at St. Patrick's Parish. The will was proven July 1786 indicating that he had died in 1786. Elizabeth Forsythe, James Forsythe's widow, went to Mecklenburg County, North Carolina with Robert's family after the death of James. In 1786 Elizabeth went to Kentucky with Robert Forsythe and his family. They went to Logan County, Kentucky. Elizabeth Forsythe died in 1805 or 1806. She had purchased land and in 1806 was listed on her grandson William Forsythe's tax list.

ROBERT FORSYTHE was born about 1744 in Ireland. There is no record of brothers or sisters. He married June 8, 1765, Ann Delson. Just before the Revolutionary War, Robert's family, with his mother Elizabeth, moved to Mecklenburg County, North Carolina . Between 1786 and 1799, the family moved to Kentucky. Robert died in Bourbon County, Kentucky, in 1802.

Children of Robert and Ann Delson Forsythe were: John, born (1766-1770); Mary, born (1768-1770), died (1813-1817); Joseph, born (1776-1775); William, my progenitor, born (1766-1775); Douglas, Samuel, Jenny.

None of this has been proved, and proof is VERY elusive on this descendancy. I wonder if Mecklenburg County is in Virginia? If anyone can share added information here, I’d certainly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance

Bill
