Hi Autumn, I realise your original posting about grave stone rubbings is dated 2005, and hope you are still travelling. Just in case you are: We visited the Old Lennen burial ground, Coldstream last year. The grave of an ancestor was found and on other visits to this graveyard as well - BUT - at about 8.p.m, we discovered an inscription on the reverse side of the headstone. The headstone is in a very bad way with flaking stone etc. etc. We did not have anything with us to make deciphering any easier. Took photos, but on returning home to Australia found that we still could not decipher the writing. I have the inscription book of the cemetery, but it does not give any more than we already know. " 1824. Family Burying Ground of William Forsyth, Coldsteam dau Isabella d at Coldstream 26.2.1832 33 yrs. William Forsyth 11.11.1834 77 yrs, Robert Forsyth weaver, Coldstream 15.11.1833 41 yrs, his wife Isabella Forsyth 20.4.1862, 73 yrs." Our problem is tha Robert & Isabella are proven ancestors, but was William the father of Robert. We are hoping the other side may give more detail that may end our search. Looking down a pathway - closest to the Coldstream side of the ruins, and from the road, the grave is just past the ruins and on the left side of the path. I am so hoping that you may be able to help us. Judy Forsyth Sydney. Notify Administrator about this message?
