I have a James Forsyth in my tree from Duffus. I do not show a Thomas.

My James was born 1808, Duffus, Moray. He married into my family..........Isabel Calder b. 1808 Nairn, Nairn. I have his parents as William Forsyth and Elizabeth Robertson. I have his grandparents as James Forsyth and Isobel Naughtie.

James and Isabella emigrated to Canada in 1849 along with their children settling near her sister, Anne, in Oneida, Haldimand, Ontario.

There are other trees on the internet that show him married to others.

His grave at the Gore Cemetery matches his birth date (but I know that is not always reliable). The family seemed to follow the Scottish naming pattern. Outside of that not much to go on.

Their first child, Janet C. Forsyth was christened in Nairn. Their second child Elizabeth was more than likely christened there as well but could find no record. The family is residing in Hopeman, Duffus in the 1841 Census and Elizabeth is listed as being born outside the county.

Not sure if this relates to yours or not.

Kind regards,

Sherry
