Hi Derek,
I'm only just starting on this line (my father in laws side)so don't have much at the moment but it looks as though the Forsyth family I am after originally came from around " Newcastle Upon Tyne" in Northumberland.(as Margaret, wife of James Forsyth is listed on her shipping entry as being born in Newcastle Upon Tyne approx 1819)- I'm still looking for her husband,James Forsyth. (found an entry for a Margaret Todd who married a James Forsyth but yet to be confirmed ...waiting on one of their child's marriage certificates.)
- By 1863 James was dead & Margaret & children migrated to Australia.
- James & Margaret had moved around a bit before hand in England as the eldest child Thomas was born in Yorkshire approx 1841 & the other four children were born in London.
All the boys are listed on the shipping extract as occupation being " Leather Moyers(?)".
Will keep you posted with any new information I get.
