There was a series of three in depth articles in the NY G&B Register beginning in Apr. 1987 on this family. The original settlers were in the old Westchester County area of Philipsburgh Manor, and many records are found in the Dutch Reformed Church at Sleepy Hollow. These articles give the origin and first three or four generations for the two "original immigrants" FYI They were not Dutch, but French and the confusion between the way the two groups spelled the same sounding name, compounded by the fact that the Dutch Church was just about "the only game in town" for a long time makes for interesting research. By the late 1700's part of the family is back in NYC and others in (then) Orange County (now) Rockland County of NY., and Bergen County NJ.Good Luck!
