William Forrester m. Martha Boles, Greene Co., Georgia
I'm trying to learn whether the William Forrester who married Martha Boles in 1812 in Greene Co., Georgia and moved to Tuscaloosa Co., Alabama is the same person as the William S. Forrester who died there in 1859.
I've just learned that the William Forrester who married Martha Boles had at least two sons, William b. 1814 in Georgia and Lewis b. 1827 in Alabama. They were both students at the University of Alabama and became physicians. William appears to have stayed in Alabama, while Lewis moved to Arkansas.
I know that the William S. Forrester who died in Tuscaloosa Co. had at least 4 other children, William M. b. 1798 in Georgia, an unnamed son who died before the 1850 census possibly in Itawamba Co., MS, Andrew Jackson Forrester b. 1881 in either NC or Georgia who moved to Texas, and Rebecca Forrester b. about 1820 in Georgia who married William Cathar Tierce and who died before 1859 in Mississippi.
I am inclined to believe that these two William Forresters are one and the same person, but I don't have that final piece of information necessary to merge the two families. If they are the same person, then he has to have been married at least once before Martha Boles and possibly twice.
While I'm at it, I'll throw out another question. Could he possibly be the William S. Forrester (Forster) who is listed on the 1800 Buncombe Co., NC census?Andrew Jackson Forrester lived to make the 1880 census and said his father was born in North Carolina. So, it is possible.
