Thanks Wayne,

We really appreciate the information you have provided about the Francis Marion Forrest branch of our family. The story you related about the CSA calvary raider, Ira Forrest, in Missouri and the resulting death of Francis "Frank" is quite interesting and has been corroberated by another of our Forrest family descendants. I believe she quoted a story from an old Missouri history book. I'll send you a copy of the James Forrest estate papers this week. Included is a receipt for settlement funds signed by your ancestor, Benjamin Franklin Forrest.

Researchers for our Forrest branch have been seeking a link to Nathan Bedford Forrest--as rumor has always been that we are related to him--for many years. Your grandfather's story might be the info we need to make the connection.

Does anyone know an Ira Forrest who was a first cousin to Nathan Bedford Forrest? We would appreciate any help we can get.
