I'm looking for any information about or descendants of a batch of Forrests that emigrated from Ireland in the mid 1800s and lived in the Chelsea area of New York City from then until about 1900 (West 20th - 30ths streets between 8th and 10th Avenues). What I know: Thomas Forrest married Anna Maria Jones (also referred to as Maria) in Ireland, somewhere, at sometime. They had 6 children, Eleanor (born about 1845 in Ireland - county Tyrone), Thomas (born about 1850 in Ireland), Lizzie (born in NYC about 1855), William J (born in NYC about 1858), Joseph (born in NYC about 1860, and Annie (born about 1862 in NYC). Annie was my paternal great-grandmother. Because of the birthdates of Thomas (last kid in Ireland) and Lizzie (first kid in NYC) they must've emigrated between 1850 and 1855. Thomas married Elizabeth Walker at about 1871 and had 2 children I think (Thomas and Joseph). Eleanor married John Boyd about 1869 and had at least 3 kids (John, William, and Martha). She appeared as a Forrest living back with Maria, her mother (and Annie and Joseph) in the 1880 census then reappeared as a Boyd with kids in 1900. She was widowed between 1876 and 1880 so that could explain why she moved back with her mother for awhile. William and Lizzie are a mystery to me. Joseph may have ended up as a printer in Westchester Co. He was a printers apprentice in NYC in 1880, and in 1900 there is a printer in Mount Vernon NY with his name whose stats match his, but I'm not sure. My great grandmother, Annie Forrest, married William J McMullen in 1886 and had 6 kids (that lived) - William, Thomas, Sam, Herbert, Edwin, and Forrest McMullen. Forrest was my paternal grandfather. Any information you have about either the Forrests (sometimes spelled "Forest" on the census) or these NYC McMullens (spelled in 100 different ways on the census) would be appreciated.
