Dear Evelyn,

While I would not rule out a distant connection, I do not think that we have a connection. My family is Italian, there are also Fornell's from the Scandanavian countries, France, South America, and a host of other countries. Start with your family first. Ask them questions, they will hold the information for at least one or two generations. Check the Ellis Island website there are many listings of people who immigrated from Cuba to the United States. Also, look at the port of Miami.
