I have a research book by Donald C. Formby, who listed the Formby-Fomby Families of America, England, Georgia, Texas, Virginia, ETc. Nicholas Formby d. 1803 VA= Sarah d 1764 (believed Akin=Elizabeth Goode.
I would be interested to correspond with you unless this is the same book you have. I am looking into our cherokee ancestry. I know that Formby came from England, but settled in Va. Most all I know is that they ended up generations later in cherokee county, Alabama and also in Georgia, probably elsewhere. The book is kinda hard to follow but starts with England Formby's and then Nicholas Formbe of Dale Parish, Chesterfield County Virginia, Deeded land on Flinton's slash(swift creed)by Thomas Akin. 1758. My immediate family is Father Frank Wilson Formby, Married Hessie Lenora Long, My Grandfather, John Thomas Formby, Great Great Grandfather Marcus LaFayette Formby (married Marietta Stewart) then Great Great Great Grandfather Reuben Lafayette Formby . I would be interested in hearing from you, maybe we could learn more about our cherokee ancestry also. Thank you Gail Formby Bean
