Thanks for the information. I suspect that this is a different George, as the one I am chasing belongs to the Swaby/Ulceby Formans. I think he married a Mary Chantry and then left her in the lurch to head off to America. All has not been lost, however. Your message spurred me on to tidy up my data on the Scamblesby Formans. I cannot see a clear link to my line, although two marriages, William to Mary Dawson in Burgh 1787 and your William to Elizabeth Dawson in Toynton All Saints in 1807, look interesting. I do have another more definite USA connection. My great uncle George Forman arrived in Boring, Oregon from Ulceby in about 1862, but I am having trouble tracking down the earlier George of the 1820s.
