Foreys from France

My grandfather was James Frederick (1876-1949) brother of John Henry, living mostly in Islington, so it looks like we're 2nd cousins. We also had the story of coming from France (variously Hugenots or aristocrats escaping the terror). However we have done a lot of searching and have traced back (with reasonable certainty!) to Thursley (in Surrey). The earliest mention is Phillipe Foorie married in 1615, so it looks like the French connection was wishful thinking. We have lots of info on distant parts of the family and would welcome any info on your branch, at [email protected]
